The Real Trickle Down Effect:

Banks stealing property via the aiding and abetting of the Federal government.

Although the amendment would not invalidate DataTreasury’s patents, it would spare the banks from paying for infringing them should courts decide that’s warranted. If DataTreasury collected a royalty of just a couple pennies per check, the cost would run into billions of dollars.
The federal government would have to pay $1 billion to DataTreasury over 10 years as compensation for taking its property under the amendment, according to estimates by the Congressional Budget Office.

I realize banks are in crisis over the credit crunch (thank you Federal Reserve), but it’s sad that this is getting little to no attention (thank you Dylan Maggard).

Here is an article from a few years ago regarding DataTreasury’s earlier legal victories.

The Thought Po-Po Want You!

H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

Sponsored by Rep. Jane Harman [D-CA].

Senatorial response from my neck of the woods:

Dear (Citizen X):

Thank you for expressing your concerns about H.R.1955 and S.1959, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act.

H.R.1955 and S.1959 amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to add provisions concerning the prevention of terrorism by those born, raised, or based and operating primarily in the United States.

The bill would direct the Department of Homeland Security to establish a grant program to help prevent homegrown terrorism and the use of extremist belief systems to facilitate ideologically-based violence. It would also establish a university-based Center of Excellence for the Study of Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism in the United States and conduct a survey of methodologies implemented by foreign nations to prevent radicalization and homegrown terrorism.

In addition, the bill explicitly states that the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to prevent ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism may not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of any American citizens or lawful permanent residents.

H.R.1955 passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 404 to 6. Should S.1959 reach the Senate floor, I will keep your views in mind. Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,
Sherrod Brown

Weekly Ron Paul Update

Now that Ron Paul is getting the kind of headlines he deserves, the kind of “he’s an anti-Semite” rhetoric you can only expect from “Republicans for Life” like Michael Goldfarb and just outright slander from confused anarchists (?), I’m just going to weekly update on him from now on. I have shunned all other things interesting for quite a while, plus I have a baby now so that’s where most of my time is being spent. Ron Paul’s message is getting out and either you love it or you hate it, I’m not here to convince people.

Here is some more RP bashing nonsense I found hilarious. It says RP is opposed to “people’s freedom to burn or destroy their own copies of the design of the U.S. flag,” when the proposed bill plainly states: “Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States authorizing the States to prohibit the physical destruction of the flag of the United States and authorizing Congress to prohibit destruction of federally owned flags.” Allowing the states to handle it has been his stance for 30 years, so his attempt at spinning it is poor, even for a liberal. If he was against it, I would think the bill would say “force states to make laws banning the destruction of US flags.”

Keep the backlash coming guys, the support just keeps building.

Neighborhood Heroine

The little 17-year-old punk that was robbing people throughout the town I live in was finally caught, thanks to a lady that lives a couple blocks away from me.
